If you live in Nashville, you know there’s music, and then there are moments that become the city. The grand opening of Jelly Roll’s bar, Goodnight Nashville, was one of those nights. I was there all day, camera in hand, and from the very first fan in line to the final rooftop cheers, it was unforgettable.

Fans started lining up early on Lower Broadway, and by the time doors opened, the crowd wrapped around the block. This wasn’t just about a bar, it was about watching someone who’s walked through the fire come back and build something in the heart of Music City. Jelly Roll hit the stage like it was home. He played everything from “Need a Favor” to “Save Me,” threw in crowd-favorite covers like “Wagon Wheel” and “Old Time Rock and Roll,” and even brought out special guests.

Mid-set, he laughed and said:

“I’ve been coming to Nashville bars since I was 15, but the one thing my bar has that no others do?

This one will never kick me out.”

The Menu Magic

What makes Jelly Roll's standout is its inventive cocktail menu. Instead of traditional drinks, they aimed for unique options that reflect Nashville's culture.

The cocktail menu featured a delightful array of flavors. From fruity to spicy concoctions, there was something for everyone. I opted for the signature "Jelly Roll," a refreshing blend of fruity flavors paired with a slight tang that made my taste buds dance with happiness.

I also chatted with fellow patrons about their drink choices. One patron enthusiastically recommended the "Firecracker Margarita," a bold mix of tequila, jalapeño, and fresh lime that packed a spicy punch. Another suggested the "Sweet Tea Sour," a Southern twist that combined bourbon, fresh lemon, and sweet tea syrup. The enthusiasm was contagious, and the festive atmosphere set the stage for a night of celebration.

Live Entertainment

Takes Center Stage

From the spinning skull chandelier to the upstairs floor dedicated to his wife Bunnie Xo, every detail of Goodnight Nashville tells part of Jelly Roll’s story. Even the rooftop stage gives you a full view of the skyline — and a feeling that you’re right in the middle of something big.

As someone who lives in Nashville and gets to capture moments like this, I can tell you — this wasn’t just another celebrity opening. It felt like a full-circle chapter. The music, the crowd, the energy — it was all heart.

Pure Tennessee soul.

If you find yourself in Nashville, I highly recommend a visit to Jelly Roll's. Whether you're a local or a visitor delving into the city's nightlife, this bar offers an experience that is warm, inviting, and alive with excitement. Here’s to many more nights ahead at Jelly Roll's Goodnight Nashville!
